Remote Product Load Feature For Checkweighers and Filler Controllers

Thompson Scale offers (as an option) the ability to remotely modify and load product setup information into the Thompson Model 4693 Checkweigher and Filler Controllers.

This option includes a 477 Serial Card for installation into the 4693 Controller's card rack, protocol and serial structure information, product load and error code commands, and installation and operating instruction.

This very powerful option gives the end user the ability to store a nearly limitless number of product set-ups on their PC or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and at any time, load this information into one of the 75 product setups provided with the 4693 Checkweigher or Filler Controller. The end user sends a string of commands and weight parameters to the 4693 controller, and in return receives either an acknowledgement (data accepted) or Error code describing specifically why the data string cannot be accepted. Provisions are made to protect data stored for the optional STPR statistics package and to prevent overwriting current product setup data.

PC or PLC software is not provided as part of this option. Serial communication software is readily available and typically inexpensive, and in many cases already exists on the end user's system. It is usually recommended that product setup data is stored in either a spreadsheet or database file for easy modification, and so a macro for these specific products can provide the transmission of data to the 4693 controller. Thompson Scale can offer assistance or advise on interfacing the remote product load option with existing or new interface software.
